We flew Air Canada into Vancouver, straight flight which was great. Arrived in Vancouver which is such a beautiful city easy, to navigate. We stayed at the Rosedale on Robson, which is right in the heart of Robson St, great for shopping and easy walking distance to Stanley Park, Vancouver Wharf and access to Granville Island.
After 4 days of exploring Vancouver we took a road trip up to Whistler where we stayed at the Delta suites, it was not ski season but there was still snow around, beautiful ski village with many chalets and easy access to the ski lifts.
On from Vancouver we made our way to Lake Louise, staying at the Chateau Lake Louise which is just stunning, passing numerous waterfalls and scenery on the way. That is one thing about the Rockies every corner is just as breathtaking as the next. On arrival at Lake Louise we we pleasantly surprised with our room with a balcony over looking the stunning Lake.
Next stop was Banff staying at the exquisite Fairmont Banff Springs resort, the resort is a little out of town but such an icon in the Banff region, and accessible to the most gorgeous Moraine Lake, one of the most spectacular natural sites on our trip.
We then set off for Jasper where we stoped at the Columbia Icefield which was stunning to the eye, many look outs to take spectacular photos. Arriving in Jasper, we were welcomed by moose, bears and deer just grazing in waterholes and the side of the road. We opted for homestay accommodation here as many houses have accommodation built into their homes. Jasper is a great base to explore Malinge Lake which is in Jasper National Park, again absolutely stunning. Jasper is also on the rail line for the Rocky Moutaineer, where we boarded to take the trip back to Vancouver, with Gold Leaf clear domed roofs the rail trip back was a lovely way to take in the mountain scenery. All inclusive with your food and drinks, staying in Kamloops on the way, this was a perfect way to finish such a memorable holiday.
Vancouver and the rockies is a destination for all ages. Many tour groups make it very accessible such as Scenic, APT, Trafalgar. If you are a little more adventurous or maybe taking your family a self-drive / rail options is great. One of my favourite holidays which one day I hope to return.
