I flew to China with Asiana via Seoul.
I stayed at the Novotel Peace Hotel, Beijing which is a very well located to explore the city on foot, close to Tiananmen square, shopping centres etc.
Highlights of my trip were to walk a section of the Great Wall of China – tough going but breathtaking views, Forbidden City & Tiananmen Square, and The Summer Palace. The night “food markets” are amazing and well worth a visit where you will see centipedes, tarantula’s, snakes on skewers ready for eating.
Must do’s are a reflexology foot massage, a tea ceremony – making tea is a fine art, and a roast duck meal. There are many shopping centres for some retail therapy with silk and jade being the best buys.
The best time to be in China is September & April/May (Spring & Autumn).
